The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Object Placements

Asked about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Nov. 22, 2011, 6:41 p.m. by Redwolf2268

Just curious..I've been a HUGE fan of this series of games for years now. My fellow buddies and I are upset about not being able to "decorate" the homes you purchase in Skyrim. I enjoyed displaying rare items, cool weapons, and potions/poisons (albeit borderline Obsessive and Compulsive, lol). Why is it now, that once you've got your pad set up the way you like it, leave, then return, it looks as though your 3yr old brother ransacked the entire place?!?! Does this happen with everybody who owns Skyrim? I considered that a fantastic personal aspect of the game, and I'm hoping that the Developers might consider looking into fixing this. We've all been able to make our houses, our homes for years, and its not cool that it was the biggest letdown on what I consider the best game I've ever bought. Any input would be awesome. Thanks yall!

Everquest II has the best housing system in any RPG game at the moment. If only The Elder Scrolls had as flexible a system where you can exactly place and even re-size items, then I would be in Housework Gaming Heaven. :D

Love the game otherwise though. Wouldnt it be great for the next game to be a Morrowind HD remake, or better yet a ES1 or ES2 remake, as I personally only joined the series from MW onwards and it would be great to catch up on all that lore. Yes, reading the books in game can help fill me in, but playing along with it would be much more fun.

My husband is having the same problem. He sets the goblets up just as he wants them then the next time he goes in his house, they are all over the floor. All the goblets in his house now reside on the street outside his house. I think he got a little mad at them.

I agree, in fact after playing through on my X-Box which I still can't stop myself from spending likely more hours of gameplay placing objects than actually completing content I just cave and get a copy for PC then find or make a mod to allow easier placement and placement of quest items.

Prime Example, I delicately worked my way to the depths of Dibella's temple and discovered a quite appealing golden statue and proceeded to go to great pains to filch it and make a get away anticipating it making a wonderful decoration, only to later trade the game in after discovering it just happened to be a 3 lb shackle.

Okay so really it was the decision to remove spell crafting, along with what seems like a little more than half of the magic using options featured in Oblivion and then making what magic was included a unending headache to locate and learn.

I have the same experience as you and agree. I hope they might provide an update for the XBOX version I play on. The PC version is certain to get a patch or mod for this problem. There are just too many of us obsessive folks wanting to impress Lydia with our trophies.

Now if I can get an update to marry Svana. I hate the fact she is not a marriage candidate. lol, so sad I know.

I have this problem also BUT I HAVE A SEMI-SOLUTION that works for me...
place a few items/ fill a basket or what have you. Leave then come back... replace the items again... And repeat, if they are everywhere try again this always solves the problem for me, but if your having trouble onwards of this method... consider that location to be "out of bounds" for item placement... my house is neat and decorated nicely ... but it lags like all hell! =D

I have a way to fix this every time! just put the stuff that you want to decorate on the floor. Then just LEAVE the house, and when you are outside just save. When you have done that you need to load the save that you have just made, and then go indside you house and decorate!!! sorry for my bad english anyway :D
