Tending the Flames

Asked about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Dec. 5, 2011, 10:13 p.m. by Vale

In "Tending the Flames" when I find the corpse of Svaknir, the book King Olaf's Verse is nowhere to be found. The quest curser hovers over the ground near the corpse, and the corpse itself just has a few pieces of gold in the inventory. Is this a glitch? Anyone else having this problem?

I've not completed this quest myself, but a check of the guide says "Pry it from his bony fingers" and I'm wondering if perhaps the item is specifically held in the hand of the Svaknir?

Or perhaps the item fell to the ground and may be hidden from view?

If you haven't done so already check the inventory of the body.

Wasn't in the inventory. I'm guessing it got bumped out of view or something. Wound up finding it in his bony fingers on my fourth re-load. I loaded a previous autosave, fought through the enemies, and eventually found it. Took a few loads/runs, but eventually appeared. Thanks for the help/tips, I appreciated it. You can't exit the dungeon without the book, so I was way stuck.
