The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is a mainstay in first-person shooter game history, and now the iconic game is receiving a battle royale spin-off called Fear the Wolves. Like most battle royale games out there, players will dive into a match with 99 other players and duke it out to be the last man standing. Things are a bit different things time, though, and the radiation-infused lands of Chernobyl will challenge players to take on PVE situations and deal with radiation issues, all while trying to stay alive against the rest.

The game is currently set to release into Steam’s Early Access on July 18, and players will be able to dive into Vostok Games’ unique formula for the battle royale genre. Building off of the basic battle royale formula, players can also expect to see things like an extraction system, weather mechanics, and even have to manage radiation levels—all to give it that authentic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. feel.

A large chunk of the Chernobyl map will be available for players to dive into at launch, filled with rivers, half-destroyed towns, abandoned army camps, and other treacherous terrain for players to traverse and fight within. On top of having to deal with other players, though, you can also expect to run into massive wolves—mutated by the heavy radiation in Chernobyl—which will pose just as much of a threat, if not more, to your safety.

Early access will also include several vehicles to drive around in, as well as a nice Spectator Mode. Additional features are planned for future updates, including lean, crawling, additions to the map, improved localization, and even voice chat. You can dive into Fear the Wolves on July 18 and start making a name for yourself on the radiation-riddled streets of Chernobyl.
