A new content update for Season 5 went live earlier today in Fortnite, introducing submachine guns to Battle Royale, as well as a new weapon and discount for Save the World. This content update is quite small in comparison to the Season 5 patch itself, but it is worth going over some of the details anyway, at least for those who want to learn more about the submachine gun.
Fortnite’s new submachine gun features a high rate of fire and is ideal for close-range encounters in Battle Royale. The submachine gun comes in common, uncommon, and rare variants, and can be found within chests or as floor loot. The submachine gun uses Light Ammo and comes with a base damage of 19-21 with a 30-round clip capacity.
Technically, SMGs are not new to Fortnite, as this isn’t the first submachine gun to arrive in Battle Royale. The Tactical SMG takes that prize. However, the Tactical SMG has since been added to the Vault to introduce the new submachine gun in this update.
Save the World - 50% Off
Today’s Season 5 content update also marks the start of a half-off sale for Save the World, Fortnite’s paid PvE mode. Both the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition of Fortnite are on sale for $19.99 and $29.99, respectively. Fortnite’s 50% off sale begins today, July 17, and ends on July 30.
If you haven’t done so already, now is a great time to pick up the Season 5 Battle Pass, since the season has just started. This will give you plenty of time to unlock and upgrade the Drift and Ragnarok skins, as long as you complete Season 5 weekly challenges to earn the required XP.
