Fortnite Season 6 Patch Update

From pets and shadow stones, to brand new locations and points of interest, there’s a lot to discover in Fortnite for Season 6. Based on the launch trailer, the theme for Season 6 is “Darkness Rises,” which pertains to the new corrupted locations that have appeared on the map. It seems that the mysterious cube had a bigger impact on the Fortnite map than simply making Loot Lake into a bounce pad. Make sure to check out what’s in store for the Season 6 Battle Pass so you can start earning XP and unlocking rewards.

Shadow Stones

Shadow Stones are new consumables that are found in ‘corrupted’ parts of the map. Shadow Stones temporarily shroud players in a Shadow Form when used, which causes players to become invisible to enemies while stationary. You are unable to use weapons while in this form, and you leave a slight Shadow Trail when you start moving. Shadow Stones also grant you an interesting ability called Phase, which propels you forward in the direction you’re facing and allows you to pass through objects.

New Locations

Fortnite Season 6 introduces four new types of locations to the Battle Royale map: a Floating Island, Corrupted Areas, Corn Fields, and a Haunted Castle. The corrupted areas are where you can find the Shadow Stones mentioned above, so be sure to explore the map thoroughly upon dropping from the Battle Bus.

Pets

Players can now obtain Pets in Fortnite, which act as tiny companions who will tag along with you during battle. There are various pets for players to choose from, including puppies, lizards, and even tiny dragons. Pets can be unlocked in the Season 6 Battle Pass and equipped in the Locker.

Custom Controller Bindings

Custom controls are no longer limited to players on PC using a mouse and keyboard. With Season 6, players can now customize their controller bindings in the configuration menu.

A number of other bug fixes and adjustments have been made to Fortnite in the Season 6 update, so be sure to visit the full v6.0 patch notes for details on all the latest changes. Check out our other Fortnite coverage to find out what’s in the Season 6 Battle Pass and how to unlock the Calamity skin.
