Winning and staying alive are two totally different things when it come to games like Fortnite Battle Royale, and many players enjoy the firefights that help lead to their victory. If you’re one of the many who don’t enjoy coming into constant conflict in battle royale, then you’ll need to how to stay alive, and keep your head out of others’ iron sights. To help you out we’ve put together this handy article, which will help you stay alive in Fortnite Battle Royale and keep you out of sight as well.

Scout Ahead

One of the most important things to do when approaching any area in Battle Royale is to make sure that it isn’t overrun with people. This means you’ll want to find a vantage point of some kind—like a hill, or a mountain, or even build your own. This will give you a great way to look down upon high-value locations like cities or other sites, and if you have a weapon that can attack from that far out, you’ll be able to take out some enemies as they leave the area, laden with loot.

This is a very good strategy if you want to take out people from the shadows, and it allows you to still loot up, get a taste for blood, while also keeping you out of other players’ direct line of fire.

Wait at the Edge of Safe Zones

If you want to stock up on loot from other players, and also help take out the enemies that are piling up along the way, then another good strategy is to make your way to the edge of the safe zone, find yourself a nice spot to hole up, and then wait for enemy players to come by. Many times you’ll be given plenty of opportunities to shoot people in the back, which can be a very appealing for those who don’t want face-to-face confrontation with their enemies.

The biggest issue you’ll run into here, is you never know when another player or group of players will come over the hill behind the last, which means you’ll need to be quick on your toes to kill, and then loot the bodies of those that you slay. You’ll also have to worry about the impending fall of the storm, which will make any loot that drops outside almost impossible to acquire.

Follow the Storm’s Edge

The best way to stay hidden and out of sight is to make sure you’re following the edge of the storm, and only moving when you absolutely have to. This is a dangerous game, though, as it means you’ll often miss out on valuable loot in places, as well as have to possibly deal with anyone using the method that we just outlined above. This does reduce the chances of getting shot down from behind, though, which is a plus that many will find worth the risk.

Following the storm’s edge, waiting at the edge of safe zones, and scouting ahead are all great ways to make sure you aren’t on the surprise end of an attack. However, you won’t see as much combat as you would normally, which might not be what some players are looking for.
