If you’re moving over to Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode and coming from previous Battle Royale games like PUBG or even King of the Kill, then you’re going to find yourself facing down a different kind of beast. To help you out we’ve put together three Fortnite Battle Royale tips that we think all players should be aware of when they dive into the game, especially if they are looking to make it to the end of the round and come out victorious.
If you’ve spent your time playing other Battle Royale games like PUBG or King of the Kill, then Fortnite’s arcade-like approach to everything might seem a bit silly at first. You might also find yourself doing worse than you do in other Battle Royale type games, and that’s because things are so different here. One of the key things that you will need to grasp onto early on is the ability to build on the fly. Building is a large part of the Fortnite Battle Royale experience, and learning how to build up walls and stairs while in battle can save your life.
If you’ve been ignoring the building aspect of Fortnite Battle Royale, then chances are you’ve found yourself struggling. Instead of pretending that it doesn’t exist, embrace it, and start working towards making your own strategies for it. The correct placement of a wall and a set of stairs can lead to an advantage over approaching players, and a cleverly placed wall can also provide additional cover for you or your fireteam when you’re facing off against enemies.
The speed at which you loot is extremely important in Fortnite Battle Royale, and you do not want to spend a lot of time thinking about what items you want, and what items you don’t need. Oftentimes some of the most intense battles that you endure will come down to who looted a weapon the quickest, and who was ready to go the fastest. Make sure you are always the one with the advantage, and learn how to loot fast. Take shortcuts, break through walls, and just do everything that you can to make sure you get to a chest and grab its contents first.
You’ll also want to make sure you aren’t spending a lot of time in your inventory screen, as Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is exceptionally fast-paced. This means the more time you spend in menus, the less time you have to keep moving and looting. Leave items that you can’t use, and try not to overfill on useless things that you “might need”.
Grab Gold Chests
One of the quickest ways to loot up well is to be on the look out for Golden Chests. These chests are often hidden in clever places, and you’ll oftentimes be able to see the faint glow around them through windows, walls, and even broken boards and things. You’ll also be able to hear them, and should always be ready to break down any walls or barriers in your way if you even think that a Gold Chest is nearby.
Gold Chests often hold some of the most valuable items in the game, and having them by your side can be the different between dying to the winners and being the winners. Keep these tips in mind, and you should have a much easier time making the transition from other Battle Royale games.
