Element Weaknesses and Strengths

Fortnite currently includes a total of four elemental types that players can find on weapons and enemies. These types are Fire, Water, Nature, and Energy. Each element has its own weaknesses and strengths, and we’ve broken down each one below with more information.

The first element we’ll cover is Fire. This element is strong against Nature but weak against Water. It also causes Affliction, a trait that causes damage over time to enemies hit with it.

The second element on the list, Water, is strong against Fire but weak against Nature. It also causes Affliction on any enemies you hit.

Next is Nature. This element is strong against Water but weak against Fire.

The final element—and the strongest of them all—is Energy. This element is strong against Fire, Water, and Nature and currently has no known weaknesses. It also causes Affliction, which deals damage over time to your enemies.

Elemental Enemies

There are an assortment of elemental enemies in Fortnite, and while you won’t see them until you reach the later stages of the game, they are easily recognizable when you see them. For example, Fire based enemies will look like they are actually on fire, which will alert you to when you should pull out a weapon with a Water or Energy based element. As you start to run into these enemies, you’ll also start to find more Elemental-based schematics for weapons that you can upgrade and equip to make the fight easier.

Now that you know the differences between each Element, and what their weaknesses and strengths are, it’s time to hop back into the game and start fighting the storm once more. Start collecting those elemental schematics, and watch out for the new evolutions of enemies that you’re bound to see coming out of the storm.
