For Honor Best 4v4 Dominion Mode Tips – Breaks, Map Control

We’ve got some great tips to help you win in the For Honor Dominion Mode!

This guide covers some of the best tips for the 4v4 Dominion game mode in For Honor. The Dominion game mode is very similar to multiplayer modes in first-person shooters. With two teams of four players (AI bots or humans), you battle for control of three different areas on the battlefield. Team coordination is key to winning Dominion battles, but it’s not the only important strategy.

Don’t Fight Outnumbered

For Honor is a game that thrives on one-on-one battles. We’ve already offered up some combat tips to help you get through these fights, but if someone else joins your opponent you need to be extremely careful. If you’re a skilled player you can probably take on two lesser skilled players, but if your skills are equal it’s extremely difficult to fight off more than one opponent. Instead of dying, retreat and regroup with your teammates so you can return and take control of the area again.

Controlling Areas

The objective of Dominion is to control up to three areas on the battlefield by removing your enemies and standing in an area for a short time. When you first take control of an area your team is granted 100 points. If you take an area from the opposing team, in addition to earning 100 points, the other team loses 100 points.

Once you control an area your points continue to accumulate over time. If at least one team member is standing in a controlled area, you will gain double the points over time. Early in the game it’s best to leave at least one teammate in each controlled area so you increase your point gain as much as possible. Even if you only control one area, you can get more points than the opposing team if they aren’t keeping a player in their controlled areas.

Focus on Breaking

As you take control of areas on the battlefield your score will increase. When your score reaches 1,000 it causes a Break, which is a reference to breaking the will of the opposing team. During a Break the enemy team cannot respawn. If you kill all four member of the opposing team, you win the game.

Your focus should be on getting to 1,000 points before your opponents. Once you have a Break, group up and hunt down the enemy team. Keep in mind, if the enemy team captures an area you will lose points and may drop below 1,000, ending the Break period.

Depending on the location of the enemy team and how many areas you have occupied, you may want to split into groups of two. You can also have a single group of two roaming around and hunting, while the other two hold whatever areas you currently control. Don’t spread your team too thin until you’ve killed one or two of the opposing team and have a bit more freedom to move around as four. Just make sure you don’t let the other team revive their fallen friends.

Watch the Map and HUD

Keep an eye on the map and HUD so you know when areas are being taken and you know which areas you currently control. The middle area is generally the one you shouldn’t be as focused on. It’s much easier for the opposing team to retake the middle than it is for them to head across the map to retake one of the other areas.

One of the most important aspects of Dominion mode is knowing where your controlled areas are located. Standing in a controlled area that is not being contested is one of the only ways most classes can heal. It’s a good idea to stand near the edge of a controlled area so anyone who attempts to contest the area is forced to stand just outside the captured zone. This allows you and your teammates to heal while the area still remains in your control. As soon as the enemy steps into the captured are you cannot heal until they are removed or killed.

Group with Teammates

While it’s important to keep at least one teammate in a controlled area so you double your point gain, outnumbering an opponent is an easy way to take them down. If you travel around the map in a group of two or more, it can be very easy to quickly kill enemies and take control of areas. Of course you need to watch the areas you already control to make sure the enemy team doesn’t rotate around and capture one of your areas.

In most cases it’s a good idea to have at least one group of two roaming around trying to capture enemy-controlled areas. The other two teammates should maintain control of your captured areas. Never spread your team too thin or it will be very easy for one skilled player to come in, kill you and take control of an area.
