The Vault of Glass Returns to Destiny In Season 14

Get your Shieldbearer back in shape.

Following Bungie’s announcement that it will be delaying its Destiny 2 expansion The Witch Queen to 2022, the studio also had some good news to share. Last year Bungie announced it would be bringing back the fan-favorite Destiny 1 raid the Vault of Glass. Well, today Bungie outlined more about that experience and when it will be coming to Destiny 2.

The Vault of Glass Returns to Destiny In Season 14

“In Season 14, the Vault of Glass will return. The team will have a lot more to say about it before launch, but there are a few things I’d like to clarify now. Our philosophy behind bringing things out of the Destiny Content Vault is to keep them feeling like the content you remember while updating them to meet Destiny 2 difficulty and raid standards. So, while the high-level experience remains the same, you should expect the raid team to have a few tricks up their sleeves when you tackle the depths of Venus this summer.”

Bungie also talks about how there will be a World’s First race as it does with every new raid. However, since this is a reprisal there will be extra Triumph challenges teams need to complete in order to win the belt. The dev team knows players are very familiar with the raid and have mentioned they are going to change things up slightly to keep even veteran players on their toes.

The blog post also goes on to talk about the edition of a Master version of the Vault of Glass that Bungie is hoping to have out before the end of the year.

“We’d like all our future RAD (raid and dungeon) content to offer Master difficulty versions, where players can earn Adept raid and dungeon gear, and while we aren’t able to commit to a Season 14 timeframe for Master VoG, we do want to take the time to develop a sustainable structure that allows us to ship these closer together in future releases.”

Vault of Glass was the first-ever Destiny Raid and still many player’s favorite one. It’s a bummer that the expansion was delayed to 2022, but having the VoG come back is certainly something to look forward to.
