Originally released in Japan back in 2005, La-Mulana told the tale of Lemeza, a whip-wielding adventurer who explored the tombs within La-Mulana. The original title was later translated to English, and transferred to the PC, Wii, and other systems. Now, though, Playism has finally announced the arrival of La-Mulana 2, a highly-anticipated sequel to 2005’s hit side-scrolling metroidvania, is coming soon.

Picking up after the events of the first game, La-Mulana 2 follows Lumisa Kosugi as she explores the ancient ruins and tombs of La-Mulana. Join Lumisa on her journey as she tries to find out what’s behind the mysterious disappearances of monsters from the ruins, and dive deep into Eg-Lana, a hidden world beyond the La-Mulana ruins.

You can check out the trailer for the newest La-Mulana adventure above. As you can see, the game includes many of the same artistic styles as the original and brings the world of La-Mulana to life in a bright and vibrant way. The game garnered over 5,200 backers on Kickstarter back in 2014, and will finally be available on Playism, Steam, the Humble Store, and GOG for just $24.99.

To help build anticipation for the sequel’s release, Playism will host a special event on July 29, which will be livestreamed for all to see and enjoy. It’s really nice to see La-Mulana’s story continuing, and the first game continues to be a fan-favorite among metroidvania fans around the world. We’ll have more information about the game’s official release date when it is revealed, so make sure you stay tuned for the most up-to-date information about La-Mulana 2 and what Playism has planned for this highly anticipated side-scrolling adventure.
