Players should keep in mind that all of the new loot and gear that they can acquire is locked behind a host of new challenges that they will need to complete. This guide will act as the first step in the process of unlocking all these new challenges, as well as offer a brief look at what kinds of challenges players can expect to run into.

How to Start the Champions’ Ballad DLC

Before you can actually start the Champions’ Ballad DLC, you’re going to need to take down all four of the Divine Beasts in the main game. We have detailed guides available for each of these, so be sure to head over to our Breath of the Wild guide for more help with those bosses if you’re having trouble.

Once you have defeated the four main Divine Beasts, and installed the Expansion Pass, players should hear the voice of Zelda as soon as they launch their game. She’ll point you in the direction that you need to go.

After listening to Zelda’s dialogue, it’s time to make your way over to the Shrine of Resurrection. This is the place that Zelda mentions, and you’ll be able to find it just off to the west of the Great Plateau. Players should recognize this as the place that they began the game at. Once inside, place the Sheikah Slate into the terminal to activate a quest called the Divine Beast Tamer’s Trial. This will mark four Bokoblin camps on your map. This is where you should focus your time for now.

At this time you’ll be given the Obliterator, a new weapon that allows Link to kill any enemy in a single hit. The big trade-off here, though, is that Link’s health is reduced to one quarter of a heart anytime he equips this weapon, meaning that you’ll be just as vulnerable as your enemies. That’s the big challenge here, and players will want to make sure they prepare themselves for the four Bokoblin camps ahead by stashing any defensive armor and instead going for armor that grants them speed or stealth.

When you are ready and equipped, pick out any of the four camps marked on your map and make your way there. You’ll need to take out the enemies in the camps to reveal the shrine. Keep in mind that enemies can one-shot you just as easily as you can one-shot them, and you’ll only have two takedowns before you have to let the Obilterator recharge. Once the enemies are taken care of, the shrine in the area will appear and you can head inside to find even greater challenges waiting with even greater rewards.
