Getting To Know the Hubs In Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Here's a quick rundown of the five available hubs in Lego Star Wars.

There are plenty of missions to take on in Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including ones based on the film, as well as New Star Wars Adventures that tie all the events together. In-between these missions, however, you’ll be able to pay a visit to five different hubs in the game, which will give you access to droids, collectibles, Carbonite (to unlock new characters) and more.

Here’s a quick rundown of the five hubs featured in the game!

D’Qar

This is the first hub you’ll come across, which acts as a large base for the Resistance in Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There are many points that you can access over the course of this level, including various gold bricks hidden on the outskirts (past the main structure), as well as general quests, replay stations where you can take on various missions you may have already beaten (including the Return of the Jedi one that opens the game), and more.

The world is fairly big here, but everything is fairly easy to find within the structure. Don’t forget to go off the beaten path, though, so you can find some of the gold bricks, along with a pair of Race events, located on the opposite ends (west and east) of the structure. This is probably the best hub to get started with in Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Jakku

The location of Jakku will look quite familiar to fans of The Force Awakens film, as this is pretty much the place where Rey meets up with Finn and BB-8 for the first time. It’s different in structure from the Resistance Base, with most of the action taking place in the smaller outposts to the southwest, while there’s a big open range up in the northeast side.

Here, you’ll find a few more race events, as well as access to previous missions (like Assault On Jakku and Escape Finalizer), several General Quests to earn you more bits, and over a dozen gold bricks to add to your collection. Be sure to do some looking around in the main section, then head northeast to find some Carbonite, which will get you closer to unlocking characters.

Takodana

This hub in Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens is probably the simplest to get around, mainly because a large percentage of the level consists of water. Still, you’ll want to hang around the main section in the center, as you’ll find a number of Carbonite and Gold Bricks in this area, along with a couple of race events and a Bounty Hunter mission.

From there, travel to the outskirts up top, to the left and the bottom to find a pair of other collectibles (and another race), then go to the small stretch to the lower southeast to clean up on the rest of the items, as well as access to the Maz’s Castle stage if you want to revisit it (after you beat it).

Millennium Falcon

Next up is this iconic ship, which is the smallest hub in the game, but possibly the most worthwhile for fans of the Star Wars series. This hub in Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens gives you access to only three general missions: The Eravana, the Resistance and Rathtar Hunting. However, it also has a few Dark Force areas (for evil characters), as well as a single general quest, three gold bricks, a quick race event and one collectible Carbonite.

It won’t take you long to look around the ship – it’s set up easily enough to maneuver around. However, be sure to check around and see if you missed anything, because a few collectibles, like the Carbonite, are located around the corners. Plus, you’ll get a nice nostalgia trip out of this.

Starkiller Base

Finally, there’s the biggest hub of all in Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which takes place on Starkiller Base. There’s all sorts of stuff scattered in this hub, including a few missions (like Destroy Starkiller and The Finale, as it comes towards the end), seven different races, a variety of gold bricks and Carbonite to locate, and a handful of general quests.

You’ll start right in the center, so no matter which way you go, you’ll find stuff to do. Try to clean up on the items that can be found in your area before you go looking around. On the other side of the base is where you’ll find most of the races, as well as a trio of gold bricks and a few protocol droids. Take the time and explore, because you’ll be here awhile. Fortunately, no planets will be destroyed while you look around.
