What Downloadable Games Are Available In the Wii U eShop?

We break down the five titles that are now available for purchase.

The Wii U launched yesterday, and despite some problems here and there (like the fact that the firmware update took forever to update), many people were thrilled with their new game system. But along with the various retail releases that are available, some downloadable games also got released on the Wii U eShop, and for a much cheaper price.

Leading the charge is Trine 2: Director’s Cut ($19.99) from FrozenByte, which originally appeared on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. As you might guess, this co-op action/adventure features a few more levels and other content exclusive to the Wii U version.

Shin’en returned with a console version of its 3DS shooter Nano Assault Neo ($9.99), which has you blasting amoebas and other dangerous enemies on cells. If you like Super Stardust HD, this might just be your thing.

Several creators of World of Goo made their return with Tomorrow Corporation’s Little Inferno ($14.99), a captivating puzzle game with ingenious use of fire and several great stage designs. Worth a look if you like perplexing game experiences.

Broken Rules’ Chasing Aurora ($14.99) offers plenty of flying action, but has a strong emphasis on multiplayer, if you want to bring some friends along for the ride.

And finally, WayForward Technologies brought their 3DS hit Mighty Switch Force ($9.99) to the platform, in a new Hyper Drive Edition with extra level challenges.

You can buy these games using your credit card or a pre-purchased Nintendo cash card, available at GameStop and other retailers. Happy shopping!
