The first portion of the Little Nightmares Secrets of the Maw DLC is finally here. This walkthrough covers the first release from Secrets of the Maw, The Depths DLC area. This Little Nightmares The Depths walkthrough follows the Kid as he tries to escape from the Maw. You’ll come across some familiar settings, as well as a new enemy in Little Nightmares, the Granny. There’s also a new collectible in The Depths and you’ll find all five of them in this walkthrough. The Depths Walkthrough
When the DLC first begins you can swim in any direction, but going to the right you’ll move with the current. After a very short period, the Kid is pulled down and wakes up in the children’s bedroom. Head to the left and around the balcony area. You will see the Janitor collecting a child below, but there’s nothing you can do to save them so continue to the left.
Drop down into the hole in the floor to find yourself in a familiar room. Exit through the door to the right and continue around the balcony on this level. Climb down the cages in the foreground, then wait for the Eye to move to the left before running into the background of the next area. You can hide in the background until the Eye moves to the right again, then run to the left when the light from the Eye is no longer blocking your path.
Continue through the bars on the left and into the dark play room. Keep moving left and through the second set of bars. In the small room to the left you can see another child climbing out through the hole above. That’s your next destination, but before you proceed, grab the cage in the right corner of the background and drag it in front of the sink. Climb on top of the cage to find the first Flotsam bottle inside. These are the collectible items of The Depths.
Drop down from the sink and drag the cage over to the two larger cages near the foreground. Climb on top of the cage and use it to reach the hole above. Climb down the rope and head left until you reach the small boxes. Use the smaller boxes to get on top of the larger box, then continue through the hole to the left. When you reach the next room, drop down through the circular hole in the floor.
Once you hit the water below, move to the right until you see the large suitcase in the background. Grab the suitcase and drag it to the far right so you can use it to reach the ledge above. Climb up and head through the opening to the right. In the next room you’ll find a flashlight on the floor. Pick it up and you can use it like you used the lighter during the main game.
Continue to the right, but beware of the Leech that attacks once you move through the doorway. Head into the foreground, then keep moving to the right. As you move through the water more Leeches will drop from above. Move as quickly as you can, sliding under and jumping over pipes as you progress. When you reach the far right, another Leech will attack from the gate ahead. Run in a circle until the Leech on the gate drops into the water, then jump over to the gate and climb up.
Jump to the left when you reach the top of the gate, then back to the ledge on the right. Move through the narrow pathway, then drop down into the water in the next room. Keep moving to the far right and climb up the next gate. Drop down into the water and continue moving right. Pull the boards away from the doorway to clear a path and continue to the right.
When you reach the next water segment the Granny will come after you. Do not stop swimming to the right and you’ll make it to the far side before she catches you. Drop down into the next area below and to the right to find that the opening you need to go through is blocked by a group of Leeches. Pick up one of the cans in this small area and throw it at the Leeches to make them move.
Run to the left, then circle back around to the right to avoid the Leeches and reach the opening. Quickly jump to the opening before the Leeches catch up. Continue through the narrow corridor and drop down into the water below. Climb up the grating in the background until you reach the top. Climb up the cylindrical grate to the left and jump over to the lever to activate the switch in the middle of the room. Drop down and move the switch all the way to the right.
The switch has four positions. Once you move it all the way to the right, wait for the water to fill the area below, the move it three clicks to the left and quickly drop into the water. Hug the right side of the area until you can move through the small hole. In the background you’ll find the second Flotsam bottle.
Head back to the ladder-like grating in the previous area and climb up to the top again. Move the switch to the far right to fill the room with water once more, then move it back to the left two clicks (instead of three) and quickly jump into the water again. Hug the right wall once more, but this time move into the larger opening above the small hole you went through previously.
Swim to the far right and climb up the ladder, then head into the small grate in the right corner of the background. In the next area the Granny will once again chase you anytime you’re in the water. Use the various objects in the water to move through the area (to the right) until you reach the two large containers with pipes running into the water.
Use the box in the water to reach the ladder on the left container, then head across the makeshift bridge and jump onto the barrel in the water to the right. Just past this section you’ll see several objects clumped together in the background. Climb on top of these objects, then jump to the platform on the left to find the third Flotsam bottle.
Keep moving through the water to the right, using the objects in the water to avoid the Granny. Climb up on the ledge to the right, then use the exposed grating on the pipe to the left to climb. Jump over to the boxes on the right, then use the lever to lift the body bag out of the water. Don’t lift it all the way, lift it just enough so that the bottom of the bag hangs just below the boxes you’re standing on.
Jump over to the body bag, move around to the right side of the back, then jump over to the hook and swing to the platform on the right. Pick up one of the pieces of fish meat on the platform and throw it into the water to the left. Wait until you see bubbling around the fish meat, indicating that the Granny has been attracted to that side. This gives you plenty of time to jump into the water and make it to the far right.
In the next room, use the cage on the left to climb onto the table above, then push over the vertical board and use it as a ramp to jump over to the platform on the right. There’s a door to the far right, but it’s too high for you to reach the knob and open it. You need to stand on the left side of the board that runs along the center of the doorway. It’s sticking up slightly which makes it a bit easier to spot.
Once the right side of the board is high in the air, run along the board and jump over to the doorknob. Swim through the next room to the top of the dresser in the background on the far right. Jump up to activate the lever in the middle of the room and drain the water. Climb down the dresser and move the chair close to the table so you can reach the large jar. Knock the jar off the table to find a key and a Leech.
Jump back to the chair to draw the Leech closer to you, then jump toward the key and quickly run over to pick it up. Run to the door on the far right, avoiding the Leech, unlock it with the key, then head into the next room. Climb up the ladder and into the room above, then push the wooden crate into the water to the right.
Do not jump into the water until you push the button in the background to the right. This lowers the water, removing the electricity running through it, and allowing you to swim in the water. Drop down and move the two crates so that you can jump from the ledge above to the first crate, then jump from the first crate to the second crate (on the right), then jump over to the ledge to the right. You won’t be able to touch the water during this segment, so you may want to give it a test run before you raise the water again. When you’re ready, climb up to the ledge above, hit the button to raise the water, and use the two boxes to reach the far side.
Head through the next room to find more water in the room to the right. Once again, use the objects in the water to avoid the Granny. Use the foreground objects in the first part of the room, then swim to the background of the second part of the room and use the floating wooden planks to reach the platforms. Once the Granny is gone, resume your path to the right, using the objects in the water, until you reach the dresser drawers on the far right.
Climb up the dresser drawers to the pipes, then jump over to the hanging boat when it sways to the left. Watch the water for signs of the Granny, then jump and swim to the right when the coast is clear. Use the floating wooden planks to reach the ledge on the right.
Make your way up the far right wall, then jump to the platform on the left before you reach the top. Move as far left as you can, then head into the background and use the wooden planks here to make your way to the far left side of the room. In the foreground you’ll find the fourth Flotsam bottle.
Head back across to the right wall and continue climbing up to the top. Move through the small opening and into the next room, then drop down into the water below. Swim to the right and use the ladder-like boards in the background on the right to climb to the floor above. Grab the crank and toss it into the water below, then drop down into the water again.
Swim over to the left and hit the button to lower the water level. Drop down into the water and use the flashlight to find the crank. It can be difficult to see, so pay close attention as you search through the water. Once you’ve collected the crank, toss it onto the suitcase floating in the water, then move the suitcase to the far left and climb up to the top again. Hit the button to raise the water, then jump over to the suitcase, pick up the crank and toss it to the platform on the left.
Pick up the crank one more time and insert it into the proper hole in the background. Before you use the crank, lower the water again and move the suitcase into the middle of the area so you can jump from the left ledge to the suitcase to the right ledge without touching the water. The water isn’t electrified or anything, you will need to move as quickly as possible if you want to make it out of the room once you use the crank.
When you’re ready, raise the water again and turn the crank as far as it will go. The door on the far right raises as you turn the crank, but as soon as you release the crank the door will begin to close. Quickly run to the edge of the platform and jump over to the suitcase, then jump again to the far right ledge and slide through the doorway before the door closes.
Jump across the gap between platforms in the next room, then push down the door on the far right. The Granny awaits in the next water area. Use the objects in the water to reach the buoy. Climb up the buoy and use it to jump over to the hook hanging from the ceiling to the right. Swing to the right and drop back down into the water as you continue to use the floating objects to avoid the Granny.
When you reach the suitcase near the ladder-like structure in the background, head to the ladder and climb up to the platform above. Jump up to activate the switch on the left, then climb on top of the boxes and jump over to the hanging light. Swing over to the platform on the left and quickly jump on the lever to activate it and lower the water level.
Swim over to the next platform on the right, using the floating objects to avoid the Granny. There’s a TV on the platform that you need to push into the water on the right. You need to do this as quickly as possible because the Granny will be tearing down the platform as you’re moving the TV, so your time is limited.
Head through the next room, but before you go up the stairs in the background remove the two boards blocking the opening to the far right. Behind the boards is the final Flotsam bottle. Collecting this will give you the Not Alone trophy or achievement, assuming you collected the other four detailed in this walkthrough.
With all of the collectibles out of the way, you can now head up the long flight of stairs in the background. When you reach the top, climb up the ladder to meet the Janitor. No matter what you do, the Janitor catches you and locks you in a familiar setting. This brings The Depths to an end.
