Metro: Last Light, the latest from developer 4A Games, has been through some bumpy transition, in development for the longest time at THQ before the publisher went bankrupt.  In the process, both the game and the developer got picked up by Deep Silver, the publishers of the Dead Island franchise, and gamers awaited word on when the much-anticipated sequel would see the, ahem, light of day.

Today, we got that word.  The company will officially ship Metro: Last Light for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 14th in North America, and three days later for the rest of the world.

Originally slated for a March release, the new release date gives 4A Games the time needed to finish up polishing the game.  And, hey, it’ll be a heck of a follow-up to Dead Island: Riptide, which Deep Silver will be releasing in April.

Look for more information and strategies on the game in the weeks ahead.
