Mortal Kombat 11 has had a rather chilly reception. This is in no small part due to the rather absurd implementation of microtransactions and the obscene amount of grinding the game demands from you. Thankfully, some of these issues have been countered by a newly released patch designed to make the game more enjoyable to those of us who can't spend thousands of hours in the Towers.

One thing that hasn't changed though is the need to unlock the ice-cold fighter Frost. She has been a fan favourite for a long time and her appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 looks to maintain her status as one of the coolest fighters around.

If you have money to burn then you could always pay for her. If that makes you run red-hot with rage then you just need to chill out and actually play the game instead.

It turns out that if you can make your way through the story mode you can gain access to Frost.

Just reach the end of the fourth chapter of the game. The chapter is called Fire and Ice and will have you choosing between Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Make sure you choose Sub-Zero each time. Then, once you have beaten the four opposing fighters within it you will have access to Frost. Cool.

You can actually do this on any difficulty setting too. While you may be inclined to bump it up to the max, you can always take the easier path and just play through it with the difficulty turned all the way down which is n-ice.

Frost is currently the only unlockable character. Any other additions are likely to come as DLC further down the line. The only confirmed ones so far are Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn. The latter was a pre-order bonus but you can also just buy him if you want to.
