It’s good to see a game developer make someone’s day.
Wade Sharp, who suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta – also known as brittle bone disease – wrote a letter to the Make-a-Wish North Texas division expressing his desire to see how video games were made, as well as becoming a character in one himself. Robot Entertainment, the developer behind the Orcs Must Die games, answered the call and invited him and his family to its office.
Wade received a studio tour, got a chance to talk with the developers over lunch and learned quite a bit from the team about game development. Then, to his surprise, he was provided with a model of himself as a game character – Wade the Super-Master. Best of all, this character will actually be playable in a forthcoming Robot Entertainment project. Wade also scored a fun gift package from the team, including t-shirts, a giant framed print of his character and a statue made with help from Shapeways.
