This past week has been a major week for battle royale games on mobile. First, Fortnite announced Fortnite Mobile, which recently began rolling out invites for iOS users. Shortly after, NetEase unleashed the FortCraft beta, their own version of Fortnite for mobile devices. Now, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has joined the mix with PUBG Mobile, which is available now on Android in North America. Before you can learn how to get PUBG Mobile on Android, there’s a few things you’ll need to know about the game's soft launch first.

Developed by Tencent Games and originally released as PUBG: Exhilarating Battlefield in China, PUBG Mobile is the official port of the PC version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for mobile devices. This week, PUBG Mobile began its soft launch in North America by rolling out for Android users in Canada.

PUBG Mobile is currently available for download on the Google Play Store, but only for Android users in Canada. In order to play PUBG Mobile, users must have Android 5.1.1 or above and have at least 2 GB of RAM on their device.

Android users outside of Canada who want to get PUBG Mobile right away can change their region in their Google Payments settings to access the Canadian Google Play store. The alternative is to simply wait until the PUBG Mobile beta releases for other regions and devices.
