You thought Insomniac Games was done with the Ratchet and Clank franchise after finishing up last year’s multiplayer All 4 One adventure? You just can’t keep a good company away from a franchise, especially with its 10th anniversary coming up.
Insomniac has announced that they are working on a new game in the series, set for release this fall on the PlayStation Network. Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault will return to the traditional third-person action style that previous games had (before All 4 One), complete with crazy new weapons and all new missions to tackle. The company is expected to provide some sort of sneak peek next week, either at Sony’s press conference or on the show floor.
The game will play quite the complementary piece to the upcoming Ratchet and Clank HD Collection, which is being developed by Idol Minds (with consultation by Insomniac). In the same announcement, the team confirmed that a release date would be announced in a couple of weeks, along with a “special surprise” for those getting the U.S. version. Ratchet: Deadlocked has also been confirmed for a PlayStation Network release this fall as well, with a high definition polish.
2012 is definitely looking like the year of the Ratchet.
