Pokemon Go Special Items

The evolution items added to Pokemon Go are the Metal Coat, Sun Stone, Dragon Scale, Up-Grade and King’s Rock. These items can all be found at PokeStops, along with the two new berries, Nanab and Pinap. The problem is that the evolution items are extremely rare. While some have been lucky enough to find an evolution item on their first spin at a PokeStop, others have visited as many as 50 or more PokeStops with no luck.

Pokemon Go Gen 2 Evolution Items

Item Original Pokemon Evolution
Dragon Scale Seadra Kingdra
King’s Rock Poliwhirl Politoed
King’s Rock Slowpoke Slowking
Metal Coat Onix Steelix
Metal Coat Scyther Scizor
Sun Stone Gloom Bellossom
Sun Stone Sunkern Sunflora
Up-Grade Porygon Porygon 2

New Berries

Berries are much easier to come by compared to the evolution items, so you best bet is to roam from PokeStop to PokeStop collecting the new berries as you search for any and all evolution items. You can also find the new berries via level up rewards, but so far the only way to get the evolution items seems to be via extremely rare spins at PokeStops.

Pinap doubles candies when you next catch something, while Nanab slows Pokemon movement making them easier to catch. You can only use one of these berries at a time on a Pokemon you’re trying to catch, but you can quit out and go back into the catching screen to reset this.
