How to Make Money in Red Dead Online

We’re still exploring the world in Red Dead Online, but that players just diving in are going to want to know the best ways to make money easily. We’ll continually update this guide as new methods are discovered, for now, though, here’s what you need to know to start padding your wallet early on.

Complete Missions

One of the best ways to make money in Red Dead Online is to visit the different missions scattered around the world and complete them. You’ll be introduced to missions early on thanks to the built-in story, and they’ll pay a pretty nice wage once you complete them. Not only will you receive a payday for each mission you complete, but some missions will even reward you with access to trinkets, sellable items and even things like guns and horses.

Hunt for Treasure

Early on in Red Dead Online players are introduced to treasure hunting. This is something that carries over from the singleplayer and you’ll need to find maps and then follow their clues to find treasure chests around the world. Treasure chests are worth searching for because they often hold items like money clips, sellable items and even Gold Bars, Red Dead Online’s premium currency.

Attack Other Player’s Camps

One of the main things that players will probably notice early on in Red Dead Online is that their base camp—which they can move around the map as they please—can be attacked and looted. This not only means you’ll need to worry about defending your own camp, but also means that you’ll be able to attack camps belonging to other players, allowing you a chance to loot any goods that might be there for the taking.

Go Hunting

Like the singleplayer, Red Dead Online’s massive open world is chock full of various animals and creatures of all shapes and sizes. This makes it the perfect place to hone your skills as a hunter and sell your findings in town to the local butchers for a pretty penny. Of course, you aren’t going to have the weapons you need to score perfect kills right from the start, so make sure you invest in proper weapons as you earn more cash so you can score perfect kills and get more for your trouble.

There are, of course, a ton of other things you can do in Red Dead Online, but these are just some of the best ways to get started earning money in Red Dead Online. Make sure you head back over to our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide for more help paving your way to fortune and fame.
