Red Faction Guerrilla Re-MARS-tered Edition Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Get that hammer ready, because Red Faction is headed to the Switch.

Red Faction Guerrilla Re-MARS-tered gave a new lease on life to the destructive Red Faction title from THQ Nordic when the remaster went live last year. Now the beloved Mars adventure is coming to Nintendo Switch, so get those hammers ready because it’s go on-the-go time!

For those that may not be familiar with the game, the adventure kicks off when Alex Mason goes to meet with his brother Dan on the Red Planet, only to have his life flipped upside down when the EDF, the game’s oppressive government, ends his sibling’s life right in front of him. After losing everything he loves, Mason unwittingly finds himself aligned with the Red Faction when the EDF declared him public enemy number one. Considering the EDF has a huge policy of shoot first, ask questions later – not being their friend is a very bad idea, one that Mason himself intimately finds out.

Being able to take these badass detonotors and that iconic hammer on the go with the Nintendo Switch is incredible. The game was unfortunate to have first been released with little to know fanfare given the time of its release, but the total freedom the game had paired with its destructive open-world really made it a unique treat that any type of gamer could enjoy.

Nintendo Switch-exclusive features include:

  • Choice between Performance and Quality Mode
  • Fully reworked graphics — heavily reworked textures and graphic features adding, for example, specular maps
  • Improved shadow rendering
  • Improved lighting
  • Reworked shaders and postprocessing
  • Optional Motion Controls for a better sense of aiming while playing in handheld mode

Switch players will be able to search, seek, and destroy for themselves when the remaster makes its way to the hybrid console on July 2, 2019.
