It’s been a while since we’ve seen the likes of Eidos’ Thief franchise, a series that has always been known for its spectacular sneaking tactics and stealing capabilities. But today, Eidos Montreal has confirmed its return, as the newest entry in the franchise, simply called Thief, will be making its way to store shelves next year.
Game Informer is lined up to reveal the game in full next month through its monthly publication, and showed off the cover today. In the game, Garrett, the long-time star of the series, will return, still stealing for a living in the booming city. However, he becomes an unlikely hero when he finds himself pitted against the Baron, a man who rules over the city with an iron fist – all while it’s been ravaged by a plague. Throughout the game, Garrett will use his thieving senses and tools to stay one step ahead of his adversaries, while becoming a richer man in the process.
Thief is lined up for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and, presumably, the Xbox Next when it arrives in 2014. We’ll have more details in the months ahead, so be sure to check back. And welcome back, scoundrel!
