Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD Sells Well, Could Lead To Franchise Return

Riding board no more!

If something doesn’t work, you just go back to the basics – that’s exactly what Robomodo and Activision did with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater after the realistic riding games Ride and Shred performed so poorly.

The companies released Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD for Xbox Live Arcade earlier this month (with a release coming to the PlayStation Network due next month), and it’s performed quite well. The game sold over 120,000 units in its first week, signifying that players are pleased with the results, as it is a fun revamp from the game’s historic past.

But could we be seeing more of it? Perhaps. Robomodo CEO Josh Tsui explained to Gamasutra that, because of the game’s sales, the “prospect of a fuller game is definitely on the table – it’s just a matter of when and how.” And that’s all he’d say at the moment.

Hey, we’d happily take a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Just as long as we can chuck that worthless riding board – our feet still hurt from that.

Check out Pro Skater HD now if you haven’t gotten a chance: it’s loads of fun!
