Weapon Lockers

There are loadout terminals scattered across Cybertron and every other area you venture into during your time in the campaign mode in Rise of the Dark Spark. These weapon lockers are generally reserved for changing your loadout and adding hacks and T.E.C.H. assist weapons. However, they have a secondary, arguably more important use.

In many instances, there’s a weapons locker close to your current combat position. If you access the locker, it replenishes your health and shield completely, and fills your ammo reserves. You don’t need to change your loadout or do anything else. Simply access the locker, then exit out of the terminal to refresh all of your assets. You can do this as many times as you want so long as the locker is accessible from your current position. Blast your enemies, take some damage or get low on ammo, then access the locker to replenish everything.

Lock-on FTW

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark features a wide variety of weaponry, both for your primary weapon and heavy weapon. In most cases, it’s best to use a primary weapon with a wide blast radius (such as the Riot Cannon) in order to maximize your damage against groups of enemies. However, when it comes to your heavy weapon of choice, you should almost always select a weapon with the capability to lock-on to a target.

Almost every enemy in the game has mobility of some sort. Some move around faster than others, but it’s rare to find an enemy that remains stationary while you attack. If you have a heavy weapon that locks-on to a target, such as the Thermo Rocket Cannon, all you need to do is aim at the target long enough to secure the lock and fire. It doesn’t matter how fast the target moves, as long as you had a solid lock, the target will go down. This makes it much easier to combat many of the aerial enemies, which you run into quite frequently.

Look Out for Ammo

Something that makes Rise of the Dark Spark a bit more challenging is the fact that it’s not difficult to run out of ammo. If there’s  a weapons locker nearby, you can use the previously mentioned trick of accessing the locker to replenish your ammo, but that won’t always be an option. Unfortunately, if you run out of ammo, all you’ll have left is your melee attack, and sometimes that isn’t enough.

You should always be on the lookout for ammo scattered around the area. Enemies will drop ammo and health, but the ammo laying around is what you’ll want to pay attention to. Blue ammo is for your primary weapon and is found often, while yellow ammo is for your heavy weapon. Whenever you see yellow ammo, you should switch to your heavy weapon.

In almost any case, your heavy weapon is more powerful than your primary weapon, but you have to watch when you use it due to ammo restrictions. If you can clearly see yellow ammo around you, switch to that superior weapon and wreck havoc on your enemies. Just don’t forget to pick up the ammo when you’re done.

Roll, Dash and Dodge

Most people who play Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark know about the ground and air dash ability. However, it seems few know about the ability to roll left or right to dodge attacks. If you press your designated dash button as you’re strafing to right or left, your Transformer rolls in the direction you’re moving, avoiding attacks with ease.

While it may seem fairly simple, this tactic is extremely powerful, especially when you’re up against a large number of enemies in a confined space. Rolling with precise timing allows you to avoid melee attacks, dodge gunfire and get better positioning to take down an enemy, or duck behind cover to replenish your shield. It should be your primary movement option in tight quarters.
