The Binding of Isaac Getting a Revamped Version For Consoles Next Year

Indie hit is getting a release for XBLA and PSN.

Poor Isaac. All the kid wanted to do was be himself and have fun as a child. That wasn’t to be, as his overly religious mother had to screw things up, first stripping him naked, taking away his toys, then being “told by God” that he needed to be sacrificed. Now he’s scrambling for his life while being tormented by hellish creatures.

While this sounds like a harrowing tale, it’s actually the backstory for the entertaining PC game The Binding of Isaac. It will remind you of the Legend of Zelda games of old while providing a fresh, humorous twist. But if you’re not a PC player, we’ve got some good news: it’s coming to consoles as well.

The creator of the game, Edmund McMillen, has confirmed that the game is being remade for consoles and will include all the original levels along with the Wrath of Lam expansion. It’ll also have new modes, bosses, items, playable characters, and a new co-op mode.

No release date has been given yet, but early 2013 is looking very likely. Can’t the kid just get a break?
