This article will tell you how to find the Tyrion Lannister Easter egg in CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.  In addition, we discuss how this relates to the HBO series Game of Thrones, in case you’re one of the few people who do not watch it every Sunday.

Warning: This article contains Game of Thrones spoilers if you haven’t watched season one.

Yes, the developers at CD Projekt RED paid homage to Tyrion in The Witcher 3, though you won’t find this character among the living.  To begin, you must first reach the Skellige Isles, then sail to Prison Island. If you look at a top down view of the map, you’ll see Prison Island to the left of Ard Skellig and north of Undvik.  You must travel along the main road until you reach Kaer Almhult, a crumbling fortress turned prison.

Make sure Geralt is ready for combat before reaching this island, since you’ll need to kill quite a few pirates before reaching the Easter Egg. Thankfully these enemies are level 12, so as long as Geralt is a higher level, you shouldn’t have much trouble slaughtering them all. Slice them to pieces or set these guys on fire. Up to you.

After disposing of the pirates on the shore, travel to the fortress courtyard and then enter the dungeon. Kill the pirates standing in your way, and be on the lookout for one carrying a key to gain access to the prison area.

Proceed into the prison and unlock the middle cell. Go inside and make note of the deceased dwarf who bears a striking resemblance to Tyrion, complete with the scar he received during the Battle of the Blackwater, when Stannis Baratheon attempted and failed to capture King’s Landing.

Walk up to the corpse and examine it. Geralt will say, “Sky cells. Nice idea for a prison without bars. Shame he didn’t know how to fly.”

The term “sky cells” is in reference to the sixth episode of season one, A Golden Crown. While at The Eyrie, Lady Lysa Arryn throws Tyrion into a sky cell, which is basically a prison with no bars and a steep drop to one’s certain doom. Suffice to say, rolling off the edge is a bad idea, and something Tyrion nearly does in his sleep.
