The Witcher Netflix Series’ Henry Cavill Shows Off Wicked Battle Scars While Filming

The Witcher's Henry Cavill looks battle ready in his latest sneak peek.

Netflix’s The Witcher series is poised for a late 2019 release and we’ve had some incredible sneak peeks at some of the characters on set over the past couple of weeks. From show leaks, to cast members sharing non-spoiler-y goodness, there’s been a lot of eyes on the upcoming adaptation. Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill is taking on the role of Geralt himself and hasn’t been shy about his grueling training regime to stay in tip-top witcher shape, nor sharing some of the journey with anticipating fans. His latest inside look gives us a small glimpse at some of the special effects makeup used to transform Cavill into the monster-hunting badass we all know and love:

Though not a full face shot, we also get a glimpse at a much gruffier looking Cavill – a feature that many were quick to point out was glaringly missing from the test footage released by Netflix earlier last year of a bare-faced Geralt. That being said, it’s important to remember that the upcoming show is based off of the books, not the games, and in the novels Geralt was very much against the facial hair that was prominent in CD Projekt RED’s RPG.

With a tagline of “The Witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts,” we can’t help but to be completely excited for the upcoming 8 episode-long series! While we don’t have a release date quite yet, Netflix did confirm that it was on track for a late 2019 premiere.
