The Witcher Netflix Series Leak Shows Off the Nilfgaardian Armor

We've got our first look at the Nilfgaardian armor in the Witcher Netflix series, but it ain't pretty.

A new leak has arrived for the upcoming Witcher Netflix series, this time in the form of a video showing off the Nilfgaardian armor. Unfortunately, the video has since been taken down, but we do have a few stills to show off what it looked like. The first impression? Less than thrilling, but who knows what sort of CGI they are planning?

The downed video and images were found by the ever diligent Redanian Intelligence. While we knew that the series would be off of the books and not the games by CD Projekt RED, it’s still a bit of a shock how different the armor looks than how it looks in-game. Whether it’s better or worse we guess is up to interpretation, though it’s definitely an interesting design choice to go so far off of what’s really already been revealed visually.

Showrunner Lauren Hissrich seems to be up to the task of the new show and she’s been incredibly transparent with fans of the franchise. She has been very quick to address concerns in the past, very honest with where she is at progression-wise. She’s definitely no stranger to working within the realm of Netflix with her previous talents put forth for both Daredevil and The Defenders.

With a tagline of “The Witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts,” we can’t help but to be completely excited for the upcoming 8 episode-long series! Fans are even warming up to the idea of Cavill as Geralt himself following numerous photos leaked of him on set and during his grueling training regime when getting in tip-top witcher shape.

The upcoming show stars Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill as the main protagonist himself, alongside Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold. The author of the books himself is also on board with the project, working as the creative consultant for Hissrich’s vision.

While we still don’t have a release date at this time, we do know it’s on track for the original 2019 release, which means a more concrete date outside of Fall 2019 should be revealed soon.
