World of Tanks is Getting the VR Treatment

World of Tanks fans will soon be able to dive into the action of the game in virtual reality.

It’s a good day for World of Tanks fans, as Wargaming and VRTech have announced a joint effort to create Neurogaming, a global, location-based VR gaming provider. The provider will have access to in-house technology as well as content expansion, and the very first game being created to make use of the tech is Wargaming’s hit multiplayer war game, World of Tanks.

The new venture will be based out of Nicosia, Cyprus and will also hold a development studio in Moscow, Russia. The company already has around 75 employees to help kick things off, and they are already looking to grow even more in the coming year by expanding out to Europe and the United States with new officers opening in Amsterdam and New York during the first quarter of 2018.

“With location-based VR, we make the experience more affordable and accessible,” Slava Makarov, the creator of World of Tanks and the strategic advisor behind Neurogaming advised. He continued by stating “Moreover, unlike any other developer, our biggest aim is to change the experience from one-time involvement to a long-term engaging story with co-op and competitive elements. Working with the Word of Tanks IP and creating an experience for its 180 million community is a massive and exciting opportunity for us.”

On top of World of Tanks VR, Neurogaming is also already working on CinemaVR, a scalable and location-based entertainment solution for virtual reality that will focus on session-based multiplayer and cooperative games. The company has already seen great potential in the new venture and have already launched the new technology in over 36 locations throughout various shopping malls and cinemas.

Alongside CinemaVR, Neurogaming is also working on PolygonVR, a high-end, location-based entertainment solution that offers full-scale immersion for competitive long-play multiplayer and eSports-based games. The tech was fully showcased this past year at the Tokyo Game Show, as well as Gamescon 2017. The tech is already being used to test player versus player content, and both CinemaVR and PolygonVR driven experiences can be enjoyed in Russia’s largest VR park, VR Park City.

It’s great to see new developers and studios pushing into virtual reality, and we will be sure to update our article with any new information that becomes available about the upcoming World of Tanks VR game that fans can look forward to.
