Naoki Yoshida, the game’s producer/director has explained it as “the latest title in the Final Fantasy series”.

The current FF14 was released back in 2010 for PC, A Realm Reborn is set to come to both Windows and PS3.

As far as timeline goes, all we know is that it’s “coming soon” (thanks trailer, below).

An alpha stress test is scheduled for September this year, after there’s a closed and then open beta coming.

The scheduling of these tests doesn’t make a 2012 PC release look too promising, but we’re only guessing. The PS3 version is penned for a Q1 2013 release.
