L4D1 vs L4D2 matches a possibility?

Valve are thinking about making it possible for Left 4 Dead players to play against those on Left 4 Dead 2.

Doug Lombardi, spokesperson for Valve, said the company is “trying to work out the details”. “So, nothing specific to say today, but we understand that it’s a very valid thing to be working on and looking at,” said speaking to TotalVideoGames.

Valve previously discussed plans to make user-made content available to players of both games.
