Valve are insisting, that despite the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2, they’ll still be releasing more content for Left 4 Dead.
Where most might think that would be the end of it, Valve are insisting “It’s definitely not the case that we’re closing the book on L4D and saying, ‘Next time you get anything is when the sequel comes out,'” Valve’s spokesperson Lombardi said when speaking to Rock Paper Shotgun.
“Stay tuned, there’s more coming – there’s more information we’re going to talk about for the sequel, there’s more content coming for Left 4 Dead in the fairly near term.
“I think the short answer is: trust us a little bit,” he said. “We’ve been pretty good over the years – even with L4D going back just a few months – about supporting games post-launch.”
Left 4 Dead 2 is set in New Orleans, has five new campaigns and four new characters. There are new melee weapons, modified versions of the guns in L4D1, new ammo, new bosses, a Wandering Witch, gauntlet moments, protected Infected, limb loss, a new game mode we know nothing of, and greater degree of control for the AI directors.
“In a sense, L4D2 is a response to what players were asking for after the first one shipped,” said Lombardi. “That’s really how it came about. I think if folks spot us a bit more time, they may see where we’re going with all this.”
